There’s something y’all need to understand. I post what I post and I speak what I speak because there was a time when I remained silent.

I have walked down the street with my black brothers and sisters and watched as people pulled their kids away and shouted racial slurs.

I was silent.

I watched as a black woman, who I called friend, was tied up with scarves around her ankles and wrists, pulled around the dorm hall by 2 white girls who also pretended to lynch her in the shower, & locked her outside the building with no pants on.

I was silent.

I have read harassment emails calling my friends slaves and telling them to submit to their white masters.

I was silent.

My biggest regret in life has been remaining a silent bystander in situations I KNEW were wrong. Situations that I knew were disgusting and horrific.

Looking back, I can only imagine the hurt and pain my black brothers and sisters must have felt. Yet because I didn’t stand up, I was no better than those doing those horrible things.

I’m sorry.

This is REAL life. This isn’t a game. This is not one isolated incident.

I will NOT stay silent anymore. Our voices need to be heard. I’m not saying by any means that rioting and looting is the answer. I don’t know what the answer is, but we can’t ignore this.

If that offends some of you and you choose to unfollow or block me, then I guess so be it.

I have unlearned things. I have chosen to be better.
