Trump is glorifying authoritarian abuse.

Beyond how irresponsible this is, it also puts him on the wrong side of a sad truth about the “middle” he cannot win without.

A great many white Americans are more concerned about the absence of conflict than the resolution of its causes.

A President who gleefully relishes unrest cannot carry the votes of people who care more about peace than justice... and sadly, that is not a small group.

Trump was already hemorrhaging support among white suburban women.

His authoritarian impulses are going to make that worse.

We have a president who is a danger to the country. The only minor solace is that he is cooking himself like a frog in a pot.
