the other day a journalist made a snide comment that i could prob be amazing if i weren& #39;t & #39;stuck& #39; writing about games, and while it made me feel bad, the thing is: our spaces aren& #39;t taken very seriously, it& #39;s true.

and yet these spaces explain/form the backbone of so many things in your day to day life. That populism plaguing our politics right now? Guess what bitch, that started in games/nerd spaces.

If you don’t understand fandom more broadly, you don’t understand … almost anything happening on the internet/social media, in media, in tech. everything happening in this space is a microcosm for larger forces you WILL deal with, sooner or later.
