they undeniably have the best chemistry. i mean, the main reason paul got casted for the role was bc of his chemistry w nina. nina’s boyfriend (from the time) also auditioned for the role & paul still got it due to having more chemistry

he protected her since the minute he met her, even after she broke his heart. even if they weren’t on good terms he was still always looking out for her, making sure she was safe. he rlly was her safe place
he knows elena. he didn’t get tricked by katherine whenever she pretended to be elena, unlike damon.
okay i’ve said it once & i’ll say it again. s3 is the best stelena season idc. it showed how much they loved eachother, that they would fight every second for eachother. the not giving up on eachother, just the voice of elena was enough for him to not turn his humanity off
