continued unemployment is not only extremely sustainable, it is inevitable. until widespread testing restores consumer confidence this is the new normal and no amount of shrieking REOPEN is gonna change it

you cannot force people to spend money they don’t have on goods & services they don’t need in conditions they don’t feel safe in

the fastest path out is massive and concentrated federal investment in testing & containment, and the federal government covering lost wages over the duration of time that takes so consumers are not months and months behind in spending power when safer conditions arise
