We know that, #COVID19 is amplifying inequities for POC. Here’s a few reasons why from The Color of Law:

1. Coordinated efforts from state, local & federal governments sought to MAINTAIN the status of African American as a lower caste...preserving the badges of slavery.

2. Using “urban renewal”, “slum clearance” & interstate highway systems to destroy prosperous middle-class Black neighborhoods...

3. Zoning that caused health harm (i.e. a high school next to a glue factory & city dump), poorly maintained infrastructure (unpaved roads, clogged sewers & suspended bus routes) & the strategic placement of schools to maintain segregation...

While I have no idea how to reverse these historic harms, I’m hopeful there will be systemic positive changes on the other side of this crisis.
