Quick question for the #WritingCommnunity
If an author refers to a character as a “redhead” does that sound female to you? I know it doesn’t have to be female, but I have an editor saying that referring to a male as a redhead might be distracting to some readers. Is he right?

Talked with my wife. Without context ‘redhead’ might invoke female, just as referring to someone as a blonde or a brunette might. Like if I said, “A blonde, a brunette, and a redhead walk into a bar.”
But if the context is there that the character is male, it works fine.
